At my elementary school I gave a speech on the day of the Terry Fox Run. I spoke to my entire school about my struggles with cancer but how I was cured and why Terry Fox was so important. The field where everyone was sitting went silent and everyone was listening to me. My teacher actually gave me a hug afterwards. I think my speech meant something to people. I’m very glad I chose to give the speech. In the year prior, one of my teachers had asked if I would consider giving a speech on the day of the run but I said no. In sixth grade I decided that it was time to share my story with my school and I think that was the right choice.
At my elementary school I participated in everything like band, cross country, the soccer team, and book club. I loved my school and I wanted to be as involved as possible. I tried my best to be nice to everyone and everyone was nice to me. I was also well liked by the teachers because I never made trouble in class and I always tried my best. I had a very good reputation.
At sixth grade graduation, I won the Character Development Award also known as the Vice Principles Award. It meant that I had made a big impact on people at my school. I had participated in everything with a positive attitude. With all my friends and teachers watching, I went up to the stage to receive my award. I was so happy in that moment, I felt like I was on top of the world!
