Building the Program Content
The program content is built on five components, each integral to Benji and Giulietta's purposeful life
Health and Wellness Plans
The Health and Wellness Plan for Benji and Giulietta combines nutrition and physical activity. The plan is designed around their individual health needs, preferences, and abilities, supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Communication Strategies
Benji and Giulietta each have individualized communication approaches.
Giulietta develops early literacy skills, learning letter and sound recognition, word building, and reading, while strengthening her ability to express her thoughts, needs, and ideas.
Benji uses the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to communicate. He expresses his needs, initiates interactions, and participates in conversations through picture exchange.
Both build communication skills through interactive learning and real-world experiences.

Life-Skills Plan
Benji and Giulietta develop life skills through practical, everyday routines. The program focuses on daily living skills including dressing, preparing simple meals, managing household tasks, and self-care. Activities are broken into manageable steps, allowing them to progress at their own pace. Hands-on practice with individualized support enables them to gain skills, make choices, and accomplish tasks independently. This approach builds independence and supports participation in daily life.
Work-Skills Plan
The work skills program prepares Benji and Giulietta for meaningful employment by teaching skills at home and in the community that transfer to the workplace. Through hands-on practice and real-world experiences, they develop routines, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities in safe and structured environments. With guidance from their support team, they practice tasks step by step, repeating them until they achieve mastery. Through this process, they gain independence and the ability to apply what they have learned across different work settings, exploring their interests and taking on new challenges as they progress.
Community Learning
A Community Learning Plan is a structured approach that outlines how an individual will learn and practice skills needed for community participation. The plan identifies specific goals, such as ordering at a restaurant or navigating public transit, and breaks them into teachable steps. It assigns responsibilities to support staff and tracks progress over time. Skills are first practiced in familiar environments and then gradually applied in real-world settings. The plan provides consistency across the support team.
