In 2017, Benji underwent bilateral derotation osteotomy surgery, a significant procedure that required him to take months off from his regular activities. This surgery was not just a physical challenge; it was a journey that encompassed much more than just recovery. Benji essentially had to relearn many of the basic skills we often take for granted, including how to walk. This process was undoubtedly daunting, but Benji faced it with remarkable bravery and resilience.

Throughout his recovery, Benji was never alone. He had the unwavering support of his friends and family by his side, providing encouragement and love during the challenging days. His classmates rallied around him, cheering him on and ensuring that he felt connected to his community. Their support was invaluable, creating an uplifting environment that helped accelerate his healing process and provided him with the motivation he needed to push through.

While the road to recovery was long and demanding, Benji's determination, combined with the assistance of his dedicated support workers and family, enabled him to fully heal. Their guidance and encouragement were instrumental in helping him regain his strength and confidence.

Today, we can look back at those months as a testament to Benji’s perseverance and the incredible support system that surrounded him, proving that with love and dedication, one can overcome even the most significant challenges.
