My Journey as an Educator: Neil

Hello! I am Neil.

I grew up in the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. Soon after completing my degree, I worked in the BPO industry for two years. I then began a career in the pharmaceutical field as a Medical Representative, a role I held for six years. During this time, I developed strong skills in communication, client relations, and healthcare product knowledge.

In December 2022, my family and I relocated to Canada. Upon arrival, I began working as a Personal Support Worker, initially providing compassionate care to elderly clients. In February 2023, I transitioned into a PSW role supporting individuals with disabilities with March of Dimes Canada. In this position, I continued to deliver person-centered care, promote independence, and contribute to improving clients’ quality of life.

With a foundation in nursing, extensive experience in healthcare communication, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, I continued to grow professionally. In November 2024, I began supporting Benjamin Fisman on weekends.

In this role, I provide structured care, encourage developmental progress, and use alternative communication methods—such as pictures—to help Ben engage meaningfully in daily activities. Ben feels like a younger brother to me. We go to the gym to work through his routines, take walks in the park, and enjoy the fresh breeze and the environment together. Working with him gives me a deep sense of pride in what I do.
