Giulietta developed gross motor skills while building strength, confidence, and
enjoyment of sports and exercise.
By 6 months of age, it was clear that Giulietta, like Benji, also had gross
developmental delays with evident low muscle tone. Given Benji's poor experience with traditional PT modalities until he started MEDEK®, Giulietta began MEDEK® at 6 months of age, helping her learn to sit, stand, and eventually walk by the time she was 3 years old.
Like Benji, Giulietta has also worked with numerous physical therapists who established specific gross motor goals with targeted exercises. The Team carried out the program under the therapist's supervision and guidance. However, exercise was progressively woven into Giulietta's everyday routines. Movement and fitness have become integral to her daily life and serve as the foundation for her physical and mental health, skill development, empowerment, pride in her achievements, and genuine enjoyment.
While Giulietta continues to see a physical therapist annually, her day-to-day progress
stems from steady support provided by her team. Strength training, hiking with her dog
and family, Pilates, gym sessions, riding adapted trikes, playing adapted sports like
basketball and indoor or street hockey, horseback riding, and swimming are all part of
her routine, making movement purposeful, engaging, and naturally embedded in
everyday life. This blend of professional oversight and consistent hands-on practice
helps Giulietta develop endurance, coordination, and physical independence and most
of all good health.
