Every Friday, Benji takes part in a social program at Windreach Farm, where he engages with peers his age in a variety of hands-on activities that promote skill development, independence, and community connection. His responsibilities at the farm are diverse and meaningful. He contributes to maintaining the property through cleaning, raking, and weeding, keeping the farm environment safe and welcoming for everyone. Benji also works in the greenhouse and garden, planting seeds, and watering plants. Caring for the animals is another key part of his routine, from feeding to ensuring their spaces are clean and comfortable. Each task is designed to help him build practical skills, work collaboratively, and engage with the community in a purposeful way.

It has been wonderful to see Benji go to the farm every Friday and work alongside people who share his interests. Seeing how happy and engaged he is in this space is truly heartwarming. Having a place in the community where he feels heard, valued, and supported is so important, and Windreach Farm provides that environment. The program not only helps Benji develop practical skills and friendships but also gives him a sense of belonging and confidence that carries into all areas of his life.

A favourite part of the program is preparing a special snack each week with his support staff to share with friends at the farm. Benji takes pride in setting the table, distributing the snacks, and contributing in a meaningful way. These experiences give him a strong sense of belonging and accomplishment, and we are so fortunate to have Windreach Farm as a place where he can grow and feel valued every week.
