Celebrating Work and Growth

Benji has been making strides at IKEA for the past three years. His journey was featured in a Global News segment titled “Teenager with rare genetic disorder celebrates 1st anniversary with values-driven company.”

Susan Hay and her camera crew visited IKEA to film Benji as he completed his tasks alongside his support worker. Benji works at IKEA two times a week for two-hour shifts, gaining practical skills, confidence, and a sense of independence in a structured and supportive environment.

Over the past three years, Benji has grown tremendously, not only learning the tasks required for his role but also building social and workplace skills that will benefit him in the future. The Global News segment highlighted how a values-driven company like IKEA can create meaningful opportunities for individuals with unique abilities, allowing them to contribute, learn, and thrive.

Benji’s time at IKEA continues to be an important part of his growth, and this feature serves as a wonderful acknowledgment of his hard work, determination, and the support that makes his success possible.
